Becoming a doula was a path that chose me after the birth of my daughter, Alice.
I had an amazing doula at my birth, but little help once we got home. I wish to help those who go through labor and bring home baby. To make sure you don't feel alone and help you find the answers to what will work best for you and your family.
I, like many a new mama, will get so many different avenues of advise. Some of it will work great for you and some of it you will cringe when you hear. I look forward to being a resource that is there for you and your family. I'm not there to make any in-law happy or your neighbor. I'm there for you and to help you into this wonderful journey you have embarked on.
With Alice's arrival into my life, there was so much change created in me and effected so many things in my life. I quit my job in the insurance industry and stayed home with her for the first 6 months. During that time I learned and fell in love with cloth diapers (we did use disposables on occasion), Elimination Communication (having your child potty on the toilet through cues), baby wearing, breastfeeding and so much more!
I became a nanny instead of returning to the insurance industry. And now I am excited to begin my journey as a Doula and help families with their new little additions!!
And soon I will be a certified Elimination Communication Mentor and am excited to bring an alternative to diapering in the community!
Happy New Year to all! I hope that you were able to have a warm and bright New Year’s Eve. It’s this time of year we reflect on the past year and make plans or resolutions for the next. My resolution is to find happiness and health in 2018. Making time to plan meals, run around with my toddler, read a good book and work on nightly meditation.
Whatever your dreams may be, Embracing Mother’s Nature wishes you and your loved ones a new year that brings you love and light.
Where does my birth passion come from?
I've always know I wanted to be a mother. My first career choice at the tender age of 5 was to be a babysitter. With the birth of my baby sister, the love of children grew. I've know I wanted to work with babies, but didn't find my true passion for the birth profession until I became pregnant with my daughter.
After some research and listening to great advise, I found a birth doula who fit my plan beautifully. My goal was to have labor start on it's own and birth without augmentation ( pitocin, epidural, etc.). After fighting with a very pushy midwife (not the gal I wanted to be my birther :-P ), I was able to achieve my goal.
Not everything went according to plan, but I set in my birth plan options and made changes when they were warranted.
I hope to help others reach their goals too. And I'm hear to tell you, I had many naysayers telling me my birth goals were unattainable and to face the facts.
The facts are, you can do anything you set your mind to. Lets get that mind set and have a beautiful birth!
